Dachau Stamp Exhibition

For the Dachau Stamp Exhibition, the German Post offers a commemorative postmark showing a.o. the Dachau Coat of Arms with a crowned lion rampant.

The stamp show takes place in the Adolf-Hölzel-Saal, Ernst-Reuter-Platz 1, 85221 Dachau on 23 and 24 November 2019. The postmark is only in use 23 November.

Korean Cat Painting

To meet new postage rates from 1 May 2019, Korea Post issues several new definitive stamps, the latest three announced for 1 July 2019. The highest denomination of KRW 2,180 (inland registered letter) shows the painting Cat and Chrysantemums in Autumn by Byeon Sang-byeok.

"Byeon Sang-byeok (1730-1775) was a portrait painter from the late Joseon period who was also renowned for his superb skills in painting animals. The painting, which depicts a cat crouching next to a chrysantemum on an autumn day, conveys the wish for longevity and a carefree life, and is famous for its incredibly realistic depiction of a cat" (text from Korea Post).

The Cat is also shown in the first day postmark in use at Seoul Central Post Office.

175th Anniversary of the Ludwig Monument in Worms

The German Post will use a commemorative postmark in Worms on 29 June 2019 to celebrate the 175th aniiversary of the Ludwig Monument in the Ludwig Square in the city centre. The monument with its two lion statues is shown on the postmark.

Should you be in Worms on the day of use, the postmark can be acquired at the German Post stand in the Lincoln Theater (Obermarkt 10) from 1800-2200 (6-10 p.m).

Dr Seuss 115th Birthday Stamp Pack

On 26 June 2019, Australia Post issues a stamp pack with 20 AUD 1.00 stamps and pre-personalised stamp labels.

At least two of the labels will show the famous Cat in the Hat, and the Hat also figures on the stamp pack cover.

The pack is sold at AUD 23.00 (franking value AUS 20.00), and will be available from Australia Post's website closer to the date of issue.

To commemorate the Battle of Waterloo, Royal mail will use a commemorative postmark at St. Paul's Cathedral in London on 18 June 2019. The postmark shows the Waterloo Monument's Lion statue.

Centenary of the Free State of Bavaria

To celebrate the creation of the Free State of Bavaria within the German Republic, a commemorative postmark will be available at the Munich Stamp Fair 28 February - 2 March 2019. The postmark includes the greater coat of arms of Bavaria, with multiple heraldic lions.

The fair takes place in
MOC-Veranstaltungscenter, Lilienthalallee 40, 80939 München, and the German Post Stand is manned from 1000 - 1800 (10 a.m. - 6 p.m) on Thursday and Friday, and from 1000 - 1600 (10 a.m. to 4 p.m.) on Saturday.

Shared Joy from Finland

The Finnish Post issues a booklet of 6 self-adhesive stamps on 23 January 2019 titled "Shared Joy" and consists of drawings of togetherness and friendship. One of the stamps shows a cat and its owner.

The stamps are designed by Matti Pikkujämsä and they are all denominated for inland postage, symbolized by a map of Finland (EUR 1.50 on issue).

The cat is also shown on the FDC and in the first day postmark.

The issue can be ordered from Posti in Finland, and also from WOPA+.

Monaco Circus Stamps

The 43rd Circus Festival takes place in Monte Carlo 17-27 January 2019. To mark the occasion, the Monegasque Stamp Office issues a stamp on 4 January 2019 showing the festival poster with a Lion as the central motif. The stamp is denominated EUR 1.30 (international letter rate).

The Lion can also be found in the first day postmark for the issue.

On the same day, Monaco also issues a stamp to mark the 10th Anniversary of the World Circus Federation. The stamp is denominated EUR 1.05 (priority letter for France, Andorra, or Monaco), and shows the fedration logo surrounded by pictures of various circus acts. A pair of Tigers can be found in the upper right corner of the stamp.
